Location

FRI is located near Vassilika, 22 km northeast of Thessaloniki. Thessaloniki is the second largest city in Greece with a population of about one million people. Built by Kassandros, King of Macedonia, and named after Alexander the Great’s sister, it has a history of more than 2300 years and is characterised by its rich cultural heritage, especially its numerous Byzantine monuments. It is surrounded by arable and forage crops on fertile plains as well as by forests, grasslands and rangelands.

How to reach Thessaloniki

Thessaloniki is connected by road and train with the capitals of the neighbouring Balkan countries. It also has an International airport located 15 kilometres southeast of the city. The flight time from Athens is 40 minutes but there are also direct international connections with several cities of Europe.
